BIOGRAPHY

Duarte Perry (b. 1999, Lisbon, Portugal) is an interdisciplinary artist working across photography, sculpture, and painting. Based between Zurich and Lisbon, his practice explores themes of emotion, memory, disappearance and absence, weaving together personal and societal narratives. His work frequently investigates the semiotics of affection, prompting introspection on human and non-human belonging.

Perry holds a Bachelor's degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), where he was awarded the prestigious Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship.

His practice incorporates diverse materials such as fabric, stone, metal, and plexiglass—many of which are connected to his family heritage—bridging the fields of architecture and fashion.

His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Europe, including “Presence through Others” at MATERIAL (Zurich, 2024), La Biennale Architectures (Luxembourg, 2024), TOXI Space (Zurich, 2023), and the D. Luís I Foundation (Portugal, 2023), among others. His works are part of prominent public and private collections, including the Museu de Arte Contemporânea (MAC|CCB) in Lisbon and MU.SA – Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Sintra.

Perry has participated in several international residencies, such as the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (2024), the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore (2022), and the MAAT Museum in Portugal (2020).
